Paxos Island Travel Greece Holidays - Villa Maritsa in Paxos - Gaios

Ideally situated in the centre of the island, the villa sits between the villages of Fontana and Magazia, both of which are within walking distance and have a choice of several excellent tavernas, traditional Kafenia, a bakery and a mini-market.

It a bright, open-plan living area with a separate dining area that is suitable for six, there is a fully-equipped kitchen. The focus of the room is a lovely traditional stone fireplace with comfortable sofas for you to relax in.

Upstairs you'll find three air-conditioned bedrooms. Both twin bedrooms have French windows that open out onto a large roof terrace with great views across the olive groves to the sea. There is a bathroom with shower on the ground floor and another large bathroom with shower on the first floor.

You'll fall in love with this charming villa as you spend lazy afternoons sunning yourself on the private terraces among roses and flowering shrubs. During the heat of the day mature trees offer shady spots, or cool off by taking a dip in the large 10m x 5m swimming pool. Come the evening there is a stone-built barbecue and a hardwood table and six chairs for al fresco dining.

Villa Maritsa was even better than described on the website. Isolated, surrounded by aged olive groves, and with a beautiful view to the sea and beyond to the Greek mainland. It felt very upmarket and had a great pool and a marvellous garden. More like a home than a holiday let. (May 2009)

Magazia was ideally situated to easily visit all of the island - we got to see a lot more than we would have done had we been in one of the main towns. (May 2009)
We loved the total absence of noise. No traffic to keep us awake; the only sounds at night being the pleasant hooting of owls. But despite the relative isolation, we liked that we could walk to the local shops and drive into any of the main towns within a matter of minutes. (July 2008)
